Shadowed doubt

We crept out of shadow,
We plagued your soul,
Hiding in your deepest hope,
We are doubt.
We stole a dream
And twisted it,
Until it blackened,
Rotted.

We made each dream
Plummet like the first,
Until no hope remained,
Until all that lingered
Was doubt.

Now each thought occurring
Simply turns to doubt,
Filling your soul with blackness,
With rot.

Nothing good can remain,
We simply stew the sour,
Then, as it bubbles,
We creep out through words.

Moving from shadow to words,
Words to shadow,
We infest another,
We plague their soul and spread,
Until, all mortal souls
Perish in doubt.
